Transition vers une économie circulaire/ transition towards a circular economy

                                                                   Raw materials are extracted from the environment and waste products are generally rejected in the environment, causing pollution. If the waste is recovered, it becomes a resource. It can help to reduce the consumption of raw materials while avoiding an additional pollution. Another way to reduce the consumption of energy and raw materials is to integrte the different activties by exchanging energy and material fluxes between different activities. Such a transition towards a "circular economy" would result in an economy able to operate in symbiosis with the environment, which is the condition required for staying sustainable.

Les matières premières consommées sont rejetées sous forme de déchets. Le rejet de ces déchets dans l’air ou dans l’eau, représente une source de pollution. Plus ces polluants sont dilués, plus leur récupération est coûteuse. Au contraire, si les rejets sont récupérés et recyclés, ils constituent une ressource, en permettant de recycler les matières premières consommées.
