Les niveaux de réalité / Levels of reality

Science is often supposed to open access to a single tangible reality, which would be the only true according to materialism. Still, contemporary science shows that reality is more complex than that. In most cases, it can be perceived only through abstract mathematucal models. Furthermore, the information depends upon the measurement process. Thus, quantum mechanics concepts differ considerably from the classiical mechanics framework. The great physicist Werner Heisenberg has proposed to consider three levels of reality when considering the objects which are perceived.  At the first level, which corresponds to classical physics, they do not depend upon the knowledge process. At the second level, which corresponds to quantum mechanics, they depend upon this knowledge process. Finally, at the third level, they depend only upon the subjective realm. This third level corresponds to the artistic, philosophic and religious experience. This idea was further developed by the physicist and philosopher Basarab Nicolescu, who introduced in his approach the principle of the third included principle, defined by Stephane Lupasco. According to this principle, two terms which are contradictory at a certain level can become non contradictory at another leveL
Thus the concept of "levels of reality" has far-reaching implications and might help to reach a much broader approach of reality.
